About Us:

Starting as an unnamed trio in 2019, Leanne Clarke (vocals and keys), Phil West (cello and bass guitar) and Matt Wettone (drums and percussion) adopted the name

"Cozy & The Dukes" in 2021 and were joined by Colin Andrews (guitars).  We play songs by a wide range of artists, arranged to suit our own mellow jazzy style.

We all live and work in the Alton and Basingstoke area and look forward to sharing our music at your event.

Leanne Clarke

Vocals and Keys

Leanne's earliest musical memories are of her dad playing guitar and keyboard at home and her mum singing at their church.  She sang in her primary school choir and played recorder, before starting piano lessons at Junior School and then flute when she attended senior school.

Growing up, she would listen to artists such as Eva Cassidy and Whitney Houston and has fond memories of car journeys and family holidays listening to her dad's musical favourites, including The Commodores and Eric Clapton.

Phil West

Cello

Phil grew up with music around him at home. His mum taught piano and he sang with his brother and dad in the local church choir. This led to him singing treble in the Southern Cathedral Singers and to obtain his Bishop's Chorister Award.

He started playing cello at the age of 11, attaining his grade 8 at the age of 15. He joined the local area and county youth orchestra, playing concerts in France and Germany as well as London venues including the Royal Festival Hall and the Royal Albert Hall.

Matt Wettone

Percussion

Matt's first musical memory is of his Dad playing songs on guitar such as “We're all going to the Zoo” by Tom Paxton and “Annie's song” by John Denver.

Starting piano lessons when he was 8 years old, Matt gained an understanding of music which has helped with learning other instruments.  He started drum lessons at secondary school but these were short-lived due to other commitments.  His parents bought him a drum kit for his 21st birthday and Matt would make use of them in his bedroom when the house was empty.

Colin Andrews

Guitars

Like many children of his era Colin was introduced to musical performance at Primary School through the humble Recorder. He quicky demonstrated a natural ability and enjoyed learning and performing at School concerts. Recognising this interest his parents paid for Piano lessons which Colin took to with similar aptitude and commitment.

Colin was given his first Guitar (steel strung acoustic) at age 14 and started to learn to play from books, mainly folk styles including techniques using the guitar percussively.
